Welcome to Pecker Floor's Rush Web Page

Hi, welcome to the Home Page of Random Hall's 4-290 floor, otherwise known as "Pecker Floor". Currently, we consist of 10 guys trying to get through this joyous experience known as MIT with both our sanity and dignity intact.

Pecker floor, short for "woodpecker floor", is short for the huge "Woodpecker Home Furnishings" sign that is hanging on the northernmost side of the floor. The floor is all-male, but this is a coincidence and has nothing to do with the name. We are home to the famous Pecker floor soda fridge, which occasionally stocks other goodies as well, when we're feeling suitiably unhosed to make a soda run. We own a large TV and stereo, as well as more working computer hardware from the late 80's than any other floor in Random.

Pecker floor is one of the more laid-back and friendly floors that you'll find in Random. Our favorite activity is to hang out in our Lounge, watching TV and talking about everything, with recent topics ranging from B5 to purity tests. Every Saturday at midnight, we gather in the Lounge for the Midnight Movie , which always proves to be popular and entertaining.

However, we do love a good water fight with the Clams as much as the next person. Unfortunately, whereas we are armed to the teeth with water guns, the Clams have recently followed the policy of duct-taping various pieces of expensive electronic equipment to their bodies so that we can't shoot them.

Floor members are engaged in a large variety of activities. Every IAP, many floor members participate in a weekend long mind-twister known as the MIT IAP Mystery Hunt. This past year, a former floor resident headed the team that wrote the hunt.

Other activities that we engage in vary from the fine intramural sports that Random hosts to the MIT Gilbert and Sullivan Players. (Hint: person writing this page is a member; this is a gratuitous plug. )

For a closer look into the the lives of the people who currently call Pecker floor home, why not look at some information about us. And to see life as we live it, please visit the wonderful Pecker floor photo gallery.

Finally, if you like everything you see here, then why not try and contact us. We'd love to hear from you!!! Thanks for checking out our page, and be sure to come by and see us during Rush.
