Projects we could be doing in order of decreasing priority, with occasional annotations: Support for SGI O2 systems: Gating on Irix 6.4 and AFS After that, limited by personnel in issues of integration, testing and deployment. At present course and speed could delivery c. 10/1/98 Quickstations Even though we will be delivering this, it has been done in the cracks, not as a real project. Update Install Establish a project to work with vendors and to enable us to more easily take their new OS versions, and enable them to produce install kits that dovetail better into our requirements. New NFS I have a contact at Sun working on NFS version 4. Too bad we don't have anybody to sit with him and get him to understand how close NFS could be made to meet the requirements that caused us to adopt AFS. New NEOS with Applixware Neos, one of our flagship Athena systems, untouched for 5 years SHOULD interoperate with current microcomputer file formats, and SHOULD benefit from message digest technology. Athena Long Job Facility Mike has some new ideas. Too bad we don't have anybody with the requisite few hours available to begin a serious requirements analysis. Advanced Visualization Vijay's strategic project. Means many things to many people. I'm not TOUCHING IT without more warm bodies in here.
