Calvin Yeh '06
Calvin is the co-president of AAA. He is a key player in contributing to an understanding of the Asian American experience throughout MIT. Calvin is from Colorado. His friends call him Calpoon and his parents call him Wen Kai. His favorite ice cream flavor is pistachio in France. What you don't know about Calvin is that he once had a cartilage piercing. Calvin has a lot of Midwestern pride and wants everyone to know that it's called pop, not soda.

Joey Wong '07
Joey is the VP of internal relation. She has made the working atmosphere of this group conducive to the formation of friendship and extremely productive. Her friends call her Jojo or dodo. Her parents call her jo-yi. She is from the west coast, more specifically Cali. When Joey's alone, she likes to listen to music. Her favorite time of the week is when she gets to watch a movie, eat good food, and sleep. Her favorite flavor of ice cream flavor is lychee and her favorite food is Asian food. If she didn't want become a I-banker, she would be a composer.

Teresa Wang '07
Teresa is the secretary of AAA. She works hard in making sure all of the executive members attend the weekly meetings. With her work, the attendances to the meetings have remained consistently high. Teresa is from the East coast. Her favorite ice cream flavor is cookies n' cream and her favorite food is anything and everything, except steak and dining-hall food. Her dream is to become an employee of a biotech/pharmaceutical company. Although, if that didn't come true she said in jest that she would then become a rich housewife.

Erin (Xiaolu) Wei '07
Erin is the Webmaster and historian. Erin helps spread Asian American awareness by posting major events on the AAA website. Erin is from the Midwest. Her friends call her Erbear. To unwind after a long day, she usually gets into really comfy clothes, listen to jazz, and drink jasmine tea. Her favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla, which she calls 'the classic'. If she didn't want to become a doctor, she would be an artist or a musician. What most people don't know about her is that every night before bed, she likes to pray.

Christina Sher '08
Christina Sher is the cultural event director of AAA. Her friends call her Stina and her parents call her Xiao Jie (miss). She is from LA and has a whole lot of Cali-Pride. She admits that if it weren't for the horrible weather and yucky Mexican food, she would love to live in Boston. She self-identifies as an Asian-American who really wants to go back to China/Taiwan for an extended period of time to explore her culture. When she's alone, she likes to listen to oldies/punk/hip-hop, eat chocolate or fruit, and read magazines. The thing she wishes she was doing right now is surfing in Hawaii and drinking yummy passionfruit-mango juice. Her favorite time of the week is when she gets to sleep A LOT. Her favorite ice cream flavor is Amaretto ice cream from Cold Stone's and her favorite food is sashimi (Japanese). If she didn't want become a consultant, she would be a food connoisseur/travel guide writer. What you don't know about her is that she traveled for 10 days in August to Tokyo for fun and to learn about the culture--not knowing a word of Japanese. She likes collecting vintage art and the ocean/beach is her favorite place to relax.

Serena is the co-cultural event director of AAA. Her friends call her weenie. Serena is from Northern California. She admits that she hates roller coasters. When she's alone, she likes to plan her life. The one thing she wishes she were doing right now is to be back at home with her high school friends and family. Her favorite ice cream flavor is COFFEE HEATH BAR and JAMOCA ALMOND FUDGE

Olivia Kim '08
Olivia Sun Kim is the super-active publicity chair. Without her hard work the large turnouts to our events could not be possible. Her friends call me Liv. She is from the eastcoast. Some things she has never done are: drugs, sky-dived, bungee-jumped, been arrested...etc. Before she goes to bed, she always read the closest thing, write in her journal. Her favorite time of the week is when she gets to sleep. Her favorite ice cream flavor is cookie dough or coffee. Her favorite food is korean food. Olivia is super-fun and something you don't know about her is that she likes to take long walks on the beach.

Jameel Khalfan '06
Jameel is one of the social event directors. His role in AAA is crucial, for he serves as the liaison between MIT AAA and Wellesley ASU. He has planned many social mixers with the other AAA organizations around Boston. Jameel is course 6. He is from San Diego. After a long day, he relaxes by playing the guitar. His favorite ice cream flavor is mint n' chip and his favorite food is gyros.
Roland Tung '07
Roland is co-social chair of AAA. He is an activist in the Asian American community. As social chair, Roland helps plan fun get-togethers for the entire club, such as our monthly cultural dinners, mixers, and other outings. His hobbies include playing tennis and basketball, and in his spare time, he likes to joke around and play the guitar. What you don't know about me is that he is addicted to Lipton Lemon Ice Tea and that he once killed a chia pet.

Sam Hwang '05
Sam is the co-political chair. He works passionately to bring political awareness to the Asian American community at MIT. He, himself, aspires to be a successful lawyer and one day a partner at a reputable law firm. He and Byron brought the first Asian American Boston City Councilman, Sam Yoon, to MIT for a one-on-one panel. Sam's favorite time of the week is when he gets to kick back and relax. His favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla and his favorite food is steak. To unwind, he likes to read, play his guitar, or go to the gym. Sam is extremely passionate about AAA.

Byron Hsu is the other political chair of AAA. Byron is from the East-coast and his friends call him Byron. One thing he wishes was hr was doing right now is skiing. His favorite time of the week is when he gets to sleep in. His favorite ice cream flavor is cookies and cream. His favorite food is chicken parm. Yicong Liu '09
Yicong Liu is the super-Career Development Chair and Freshmen Rep. Her friends call King-Cong, although she's nowhere near to King-Kong in size or temperament. She's from the eastcoast, more specifically Maryland. Her favorite food is bubble tea and coffee, which she insists falls under the category of ‘food'. Her favorite time of week is when she gets to chill with her friends. Her favorite ice cream flavor is strawberry shortcake serenade from Coldstone. If she didn't want to be a doctor, she would be a homeless pop star with no real talent.

Vivian Tang '09
Vivian is the co-Comm. Serv. Chair of AAA. Her parents call her by the endearing name of Xiao Ren (little person). She is an East coast girl. She has a chrysanthemum tea addiction and claims that she will never give that up. Her favorite time of the week is when she gets to chill with friends, eat or sleep. Her favorite ice cream flavor is peach or mango. If she didn't want to become a doctor, she would be a teenybopper. She wants everyone to know that, “little people can have big hearts and appetites!”

Kerry Cheung is the community service chair of AAA. His parents calls him Gaie Jaie -- literally lil' chicken. Kerry is an East-coaster . He self-identifies himself an Asian American. Kerry likes to travel, and says that if he could be doing anything right now, it would be to travel the world. His favorite time of the week is when he gets to hang out with people he wants to see. His favorite ice cream flavor is cookies n' cream and his favorite food is Asian fusion. If he didn't want to become an engineer/researcher/consultant/teacher, he would be a graphic artist/photographer/interior designer/psychologist/architect.

Eugene Jang '09
Eugene Jang is an avid player on the MIT Varsity Volleyball team, which makes him the perfect athletics chair for AAA. His friends call him Eugebooge. Eugene is from the big apple. He self-identifies as a Banana. His guilty pleasure is sleeping-in on Saturday mornings. His favorite ice-cream flavor is Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Strawberry. His favorite food is fried rice. During his free time, he likes to play the guitar. If he didn't want to become a biomechanical engineer, he would want to become a toy designer or professional snowboarder. Something you don't know about Eugene is that he still doesn't know how to swim.
Member at Large:
Kimberly Wu '06
Kim is the member at large. She is the effective promoter of numerous Asian American news to the MIT community and is responsible for the success of many AAA events. Kim lived has lived in many places throughout her lifetime. She was born in Canada, but lived in North Carolina for 7 years, then moved to Beijing for 5 years, then lived Shanghai for 3 years before coming to MIT. Her favorite time of the week is when she gets to hang out with her friends. Her favorite ice cream flavor is cookies n' cream. She claims that her favorite food is sushi (but it's actually ice cream). Her dream is to become an orthodontist. What you don't know about her is that although she's petite, she's super feisty and can take on anyone who messes with her.

The MIT Asian American Association (MITAAA) is dedicated to the promotion of the Asian American experience by providing a series of social, cultural, political, and educational events.
As of 2001-02 enrollment, MIT has 1764 Asian American students. MITAAA serves to represent the diverse interests of Asian American students, Asian students from abroad, and non-Asian students who are interested in learning more about the Asian American experience.
