Present: Jumaane, Prachi, Qian, Yuki, Kaz, Daphne, Lei, Carolyn, Me

I. IDEAS FROM LEADERSHAPE
(a) qian: re-open (features) section in the tech--perhaps a monthly insert.
 wants to address/raise both serious and entertaining issues.  maybe
highlight different people.
(b) prachi: create some sort of central website/online calendar that
everyone can check for a schedule of cultural events and activities.  help
increase people's awareness.
(c) kaz: eventually have a kind of forum/meeting/discussion with people
from many/most of the culture groups around campus.  touch base with
everyone on important issues like segregation.
(d) why don't more people explore different culture group activities around
campus?  three major reasons:
     (1) people are intimidated
     (2) many people don't care (apathy)
     (3) culture groups are too busy or too focused on themselves to
welcome/interact w/other people

II. INSERT/SECTION IN THE TECH/NEWSLETTER
(a) articles about important issues (social, cultural, etc.)
(b) comic strips
(c) calendar/schedule of ALL current cultural events, meetings, study
breaks (must be compiled by us most likely)
(d) ads from culture groups
(e) highlight cool people/clubs on campus
(f) perhaps all the class councils can send a weekly email to their
respective classes listing a schedule of upcoming events (class of 05 does
this already)
***qian will ask the tech if they are willing to cooperate with us***

III. EYE-CATCHING DISPLAYS...specifically for REG DAY (but we can do this
throughout the term)
(a) location: dupont or student center
(b) maybe 5 mannikins (spelling?) dressed in different cultural
costume/dress -- but separate from each other to highlight the issue of
self-segregation around mit?
(c) hand out fliers explaining the display and pangaea-->create a slogan
for pangaea!
***ASK AROUND FOR DIFFERENT CULTURAL COSTUMES; HAVE THEM BY SATURDAY 2/2;
MEET SAT. 2/2 @ 12PM IN LOBDELL TO FINALIZE PLANS, PICK EXACT LOCATION,
MAKE POSTERS AND FLIERS***
(d) possible cultures (or subsets) to highlight:
-latin american
-asian
-indian
-african
-norwegian
-filipino
-nerd culture
(e) ask theater people for mannikins to borrow
