MOVIE NIGHTS (A) Th 10/3 7pm Next House: movie screening with members of JSU, Pangaea, and Next House residents. Movie TBA (Jumaane and Sean will contact their film professors about any potentially provocative movies pertaining to Japanese culture). We will buy dinner for people who come (good food NOT pizza ring!). (B) Th 11/7 7pm: screening of "Fakin' Da Funk" (movie about a Korean boy who grows up in a black neighborhood..). Would be awesome if KSA and BSU could co-sponsor this event -- I will contact KSA, Jumaane will contact BSU. Possible locations: a dorm, stud ctr, 1-150, 1-190, 4-231/7 (we'll see if BSU or KSA has preferences). II. NEWSLETTER?! (A) We'll try to put one out for October -- very basic schedule of upcoming cultural events, possibly with some blurbs or pictures and a plug for Pangaea of course. (B) We will personally contact club presidents/exec people via phone (pref) or email: *Daphne: ATS, Columbians, CSC, Hong Kong, Malaysians, Vietnamese *Jumaane: Africans, BSU, Haitians, JSU, LUCHA, Persians *Brian: FSA *Me: APR, KSA, SAAS ALL REMAINING CULTURE CLUBS WE HAVE TO SPLIT UP AND CONTACT. III. APPEALS: Daphne the greatest treasurer in the world will take care of this -- we will request an additional $300 for upcoming events (movie screenings, study breaks, maybe something with the Anime club?). IV. RAISING AWARENESS ON CAMPUS: highlighting racist grafitti in halls/reading room, sparking public discussion (A) people don't seem to like surveys (B) we can try setting up paper banner in a public place like lobby 7/10 with powerful (positive/negative) statements about race and culture and identity and ask people to write (on the paper thing) what they think about all this.
