The WebEQ Math Viewer Applet

The WebEQ Math Viewer is an applet that dynamically renders interactive math equations. The preferred way of using the applet is to install it into a browser, like a plug-in. However, it can also be put on a server so that it downloads with a Web page. See Distributing the Math Viewer Applet from a Web Server for more details.

Applet tags instruct the browser to load and run the Math Viewer. Parameters in the applet tags control various options about how the applet displays equations. Some of the Math Viewer's interactivity options include:

  • allowing readers to adjust the size of equations
  • cutting-and-pasting parts of equations
  • toggling and highlighting on mouse-over
  • Automatically rendering MathML in IE5.
