The WebEQ Equation Input Control

The WebEQ Equation Input Control is an applet version of the WebEQ Equation Editor. It is intended to be embedded in Web pages as a means of getting mathematical input from readers.

Using JavaScript, it is possible to query the Equation Input Control for the MathML markup for the equation it is currently displaying. This information can then be returned to the server with a CGI script, servlet, or similar web application software. On the Macintosh, it is not possible to use JavaScript to query the editor, so the applet provides an alternative method for sending input back to a CGI script on the server.

The Equation Input Control is only available to your readers if you purchase WebEQ and set up your server to deliver WebEQ files. In particular, it requires Java class files that are not included in the Math Viewer plug-in, so you must supply the necessary classes on your server.

Equation Input Control features include:

  • Simple template-based editing.
  • Set and retrieve MathML via JavaScript
