Me

I am a postdoctoral associate working with Dr. Noelle Eckley Selin in the Center for Global Change Science and the Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change at MIT. My research focuses on using the chemical transport model GEOS-Chem to simulate the global atmospheric transport of persistent organic pollutants (POPs). POPs are chemicals that persist for long periods in the environment, travel long distances, are toxic, and bioaccumulate (i.e., concentrate in the fatty tissue of animals). The goal of this research is to better inform policy makers of strategies to reduce long-range transport of and human/ecosystem exposure to POPs. More about POPs can be found on the United Nations Environment Programme web site and on the Stockholm Convention's web site.

I received my PhD in Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography (URI-GSO) in 2010. My advisor was Dr. Rainer Lohmann. Much of my PhD work took place at the U.S. EPA's Atlantic Ecology Division Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Robert Burgess.

I received my MS in Environmental Toxicology from Cornell University in 2005. My advisor was Dr. Ann Lemley.

**As of August 2015, I am Assistant Professor of Marine Science in the Corning School of Ocean Studies at Maine Maritime Academy **
