Educational Resources

There are a number of educational resources available to the community:

StarBiochem: StarBiochem is a 3D protein viewer that allows students to learn key concepts in structural biology in an interactive manner. This software allows for the visualization and manipulation of many of the Protein Data Bank molecules in a 3D environment.

StarGenetics: StarGenetics provides a set of tools for analyzing genetic traits. This software simulates mating experiments between organisms that are genetically different across a range of traits and allows students to analyze the nature of the traits in question.

Conversation with Scientists Lecture Series: With support from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Biology Department was pleased to host several talks from 2007 to 2009 in a seminar series titled "Conversation with a Scientist." These informal talks featured various long-time Biology faculty speaking about their science, their careers, and their work and history in the Department.

MIT OpenCourseWare (OCW) is a web-based publication of virtually all MIT course content. OCW is open and available to the world and is a permanent MIT activity.
