Application Procedures

 

 

On the MIT Graduate Admissions site, you can apply online (preferred method) or download a PDF form to submit a paper application, as well as get further general information on graduate programs at MIT.

Application deadline: December 1, 2009.

Regarding the application deadline: It is highly recommended that applicants submit their applications and all supporting material including references and transcripts in advance of the deadline, December 1, 2009. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Applicants will be contacted in early February.

When applying, please keep the following in mind:

  1. You do NOT have to fill out the "Record of Subjects" (middle 2 pages of application).
  2. The GRE General Test is required of all applicants. The Institute code for MIT is 3514. The departmental code for Biology is 0203 for the GRE and 35 for the TOEFL. GRE Subject Exams are not required but scores may be submitted. You are encouraged to take your GRE before December. Students who must take them in December should put a note in their applications stating when the official scores will arrive.
  3. It is in your best interest to return ALL parts of the application including the application fee, transcripts, test scores, and evaluations well before the deadline. You should make every effort to submit all of the required items by December 1st. Your application will be acknowledged when it is received. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
  4. All application materials (application, transcripts, evaluations, etc.) that cannot be submitted online should be sent directly to:
