Officers of the MIT Graduate Student Council
There are 4 officer positions within the GSC: President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. These four officers, along with the committee chairs and administrative assistants, form the core team within the GSC and as such work together to coordinate the GSC's efforts throughout the year.

President

- Communicates the needs of graduate students to the administration
- Oversees the operations of the Council as a whole
- Runs monthly Executive Committee meetings
- Proposes new initiatives and advocacy topics
Vice-President

- Oversees all GSC representatives, including recruitment and orientation
- Chairs the Nominations Committee, placing graduate representatives on Institute-level committees
- Liaises with Graduate Administrators & departmental student groups
- Serves as acting president in the president's absence
Secretary

- Insures effective management and communication of information within the GSC and with the wider community
- Chairs the GSC Publicity and Publications Committee and responsible for presenting the GSC in a coherent and exciting framework
- Works with the Graduate Student News editors and the GSC Webmaster to oversee the printed and electronic communication
- Oversees the committees of the GSC to insure distribution and posting of agendas and minutes, and manages the GSC's ever-growing archive of information
Treasurer

- Devises, balances and monitors the annual GSC budget (~$300k), driving preliminary idea generation and facilitating eventual use of finances
- Oversees the allocation of funds to graduate student groups by convening and chairing the GSC Funding Board
- Serves on the LEF/ARCADE funding boards to allocate funds for large and cultural events
- Forms strategies and alliances, including those with MIT/GSC Administrators, to fund ideas initiated to help improve academic, residential and social life
Administrators

- Liaise with organizations and companies outside of MIT
- Serve as a resource for graduate students, their families, and other MIT offices
