The plaque on the Building 10 dome can be inscribed with either your year of graduation (4 digits in arabic numerals) or with the original date that MIT moved to Cambridge (in roman numerals): MCMXVI.

If your year of graduation changes, you can send your ring back to Balfour and have the new year engraved.

The inside of the ring features a map of MIT. 18 Letters,numbers and spaces can be engraved inside the ring. No more than 18 can be engraved because of the map that is also engraved inside the ring.
