Registration
Q: When will registration for the trip open?
A: The 2008 GSC/MIT Snowriders Winter trip is Sold Out! Please try again next year :)
Cost and Payment
Q: How much does the trip cost?
A: Price is $241.
If you have a New England season pass, then the trip is cheaper! $157. You must
buy your season pass by November 22, 2007 to qualify. Visit the Snowriders website for more details.
Q: What if I don't want to ski all three days, is the trip cheaper?
A: No, but you may exchange your lift tickets for $25 Sunday River money by notifing the trip organizers and you will receive your Sunday River money instead of lift tickets upon arrival to Sunday River. This is an all or nothing deal: either 3 days of skiing or 3 days of Sunday River money. The other option is to choose the season pass package that does not include lift tickets when selecting packages.
Q: What payment methods are available for the trip?
A: We accept any credit card with a Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express logo on it.
Q: Can I pay for my friend's trip with my credit card?
A: Yes, but your friend will need to print out, sign, and drop off a liability waiver at the GSC Office (50-220).
Q: I'm having trouble paying for the trip online.
A: Please contact gsc-skitrip[at]mit.edu.
Q: What is your privacy policy for credit card transactions?
A: This is our privacy policy and our credit card policy.
Q: I selected the wrong package type. What should I do?
A: Please contact gsc-skitrip[at]mit.edu.
Guest Policy
Q: How do guests register for the trip?
A: After the MIT graduate student/postdoc registers for the trip. The guest may register/pay for themselves using their friend as their host.
Q: Who is considered a guest?
A: Anyone that is not a MIT graduate student/postdoc and must rigister with one as their host. This would include boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, wives, spouses, family and children.

Q: How much are gear rentals?
A: A discounted group rate is available through Sunday River for $65 for the entire three day trip.
Q: What rental packages are available?
A: If you are a skier, there are three rental packages.
$65 Recreation Package (used Rossignol skis, boots and poles)
$75 Sport Package (new Rossignol skis, boots and poles)

If you are a Snowboarder, there are two rental packages.

Q: What about damage waivers for rentals?
A: At the time of renting, you can pay $2 additional for damage coverage on any rental package for the entire trip. Theft is not covered!
Q: Where can you store you skis/board at Sunday River?
A: In the ski storage lockers at your condo, not inside of your room! Also, you may store your skis/board locked at the Stor-a-Ski(Board) for $4 for the entire trip located at South Ridge Lodge.
Q: When is the group rental fitting?
A: January 9, 2008 from 11am to 6pm, in the Johnson Athletic Center lobby (near the main Z Center desk). At that time, Sunday River reps will be here to fit you for Sunday River gear rentals. You will pick up your rentals when we all arrive at Sunday River.
Q: If I can't make it to the group rental fitting at MIT, can I still rent from Sunday River at the reduced rate?
A: Yes, you will just need to spend extra time when we arrive on Thursday evening getting your rentals fitted.
Lessons
Q: How many free lessons do I get with the package?
A: You get one free Perfect Turn group lesson per day if you already have skied before. There is not a package without these free lessons, but you may choose not to participate.
Q: I have never skied before, can I still take lessons?
A: You will need to pay an additional $50 at the resort for a first-timer lesson on your first day. On the subsequent days, you may participate in the normal group lessons which are included in the package cost.
Group Assignments
Q: How do you assign rooms?
A: We attempt to place you in a room with other people that selected the same group name as you.
Q: I would like my room to be near another person's room. How do I let you know?
A: Both groups of people should prefix their group names with the same unique name. For example, for these two groups:
supergroup_skiers
supergroup_boarders
We will attempt to put all people that indicate "supergroup_skiers" in the same room, and we will attempt to put all people that indicate "supergroup_boarders" in another. Additionally, we will attempt to put the two rooms as close together as possible.
Q: I don't know anyone to form a group with. Is this a problem?
A: No, we can still assign you to a room without a group name. If this is the case, we will put you in a room with others of the same gender as you.
Q: How big can my room group be?
A: There are a mixture of 3, 4, and 6 person rooms available, so try to form groups of those sizes. Due to room availability, we cannot satisfy all requested groups, so we will try our best to fit all your group members into the same or neighboring rooms.
Q: Can I change my group after I've registered?
A: Yes, use this form to change your group name.
Q: When is the last time I can make a change to my group name?
A: January 6, 2008 at 11:59pm.
Lodging
Q: How many people per condo? Are there private rooms?
A: There are a mixture of 3, 4, and 6 person condos available. The 4 and 6 person condos have a bedroom, but it may not necessarily be private.
Q: Do I need to bring towels or bed sheets? How about kitchen appliances?
A: No, the rooms are fully equipped including a small kitchen. You will probably want to bring some groceries.
Q: Is there a grocery store nearby?
A: There are convenience stores located at Sunday River, or you can take the free shuttle into Bethel where there is a full grocery store.
Q: How far from the slopes is the lodging?
A: They are slopeside.
Transportation
Q: When will we depart MIT? When will we return?
A: We will meet on Thursday, January 24th at 5:15pm on Audrey Street behind Tang Hall. We will return on Sunday, January 27th at about 9pm. Note that we are departing on Thursday evening just like last year.
Q: If I don't take the bus, but instead drive myself to Sunday River, can I pay less for the trip?
A: No.
