We are the newly-formed group representing the Department of [Department Name], and we arehoping to make significant improvements to the quality of our experienceat MIT. There are many aspects to this in which we plan to get involved,including:

• Overall student quality of life including:
  • Cost-of-Living
  • Advisor/Student relationships and conflict resolution
  • Workspace/Office conditions and infrastructure
• Getting involved in admissions and incoming student orientation
• Promote the unification of the department through events such as:
• Department-wide academic seminars
• Graduate student social events
• Department sports/intramural teams
• Department-wide incoming student orientation
• Gaining input on the qualifying exam, general exam, and other degree requirements
• Alumni and Professional/Corporate relations
• Act as liaisons between the students, faculty, administration, and the Institute
• Assist in student professional development
• Increased input in Department decision-making processes, including:
• Department Chair selection
• Tenure Selection
• Fiscal Transparency
• Honor Society
