The Dining Room, by A.R. Gurney is an engaging set
of 18 vignettes tracing the history of a single
room from one generation to the next. The show is
a series of snapshots built around Gurney's vision
of the disintegration of the upper white middle
class. The people within the dining room and its
story change, and create an interesting insight
into the story of the American family. Written for
a cast of 6 - but in this instance done with 8 -
this show provides the actors the opportunity to
play many different roles apiece.
