The Women's Varsity Volleyball Team is an NCAA Division III team which competes in the New England Women's Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC). The NEWMAC consists of Babson College, Clark University, US Coast Guard Academy, MIT, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and WPI.
MIT has enjoyed much success since it began in 1975 including ECAC Championships in 1983, 1993, 2003 and 2004, NEW8 Championships in 1986, 1987, 1989, and 1990, Eight NEW8 Players of the Year, and 14 trips to the NCAA National Championship Tournament where the team has finished as high as 2nd in the country (Division III).
