Club Z History

Past Events

Let's take a look at this year so far. Eek, I just learned how to access the website to update it in January! So bare with me. Things should be better now.

Our most recent event:

Grafitti BBQ and Loud and Local: Battle of the Bands: September 3, 2004
A totally awesome event to jump start the year. Though the main focus was for freshmen I know there were many upperclassmen who enjoyed the event as well. After the activities midway we had thousands gathered by the Kresge BBQ pit enjoying some free food and musical entertainment by MITDMC. Later the battle of the bands started and I apologize for those bands that totally blew but if you stuck around to win spectacular prizes then I know you got to listen to some great tunes. Thanks to everyone who came, hope you had fun.

Pudgy Pie Party: May 7, 2004
This is our third time doing this event and it will be a semianual event held once in the fall and once in the spring. We always get atleast 100 people throughout the whole afternoon coming over to get this midwestern campers tasty treat. What is a pudgy pie? is a question that comes up well just about every time some one else comes by. They are just like grilled cheese except that pie filling is between the bread (and chocolate or marshmallows or whatever you want really) and it is cooked in a pie iron called a pudgye pie maker which is two slabs of metal that encompass the bread. The iron is then shoved in the fire and left until the bread becomes golden brown. It is a messy but delicious treat. If you haven't tried one you've never lived! Come to our next one in the fall.

CPW Halo Event 2004
Again we played 16 person Halo, but this time in the media room at the Z-center and it was for incoming freshmen. After a little quick thinking and help from cmatt, the problem of not having working ethernet jacks was solved and we were on our way with everyone in the same room surrounding 4 TVs. Let's just say every seat in the house was full. It was a great success.

16 Person Halo: March 6, 2004
Enough said.
Ok, ok I'll elaborate. There was mad Halo action all night long. I believe it was 4am before everyone realized that if they didn't go to bed soon sunday would be a very short day. We had lots of new people this time. AKA I didn't know everyone who showed up. I hope/know everyone had lots of fun from those who had never played to those who should never own an XBOX and Halo at the same time for fear of permeanently numb fingers. Hope to see everyone again over CPW.

Study Break: December 12, 2003
In light of the upcoming finals, a study break seemed appropriate. You could come make smores, drink hot chocolate, and each some snacks.

Accoustic Break: December 5?, 2003
While listening to the band Neon ??Calm or Clam?? students enjoyed smoothies made before their eyes and blended of course only between songs. Apparently they were super awesome. Both the smoothies and the band.

Accoustic Breakfast: November 21, 2003
Russell Wolfe gave everyone much amusment and entertainment by bringing his band to play for us while we enjoyed delicious waffles. The event was so popular we ran out of food. Sorry everyone.

Spooky Skate: Halloween
A super great success. People stood in huge lines to wait to get skates while there were still a hundred people skating around. But there was plenty more to do including carving pumpkins, decorating cookies, and entering into the trivia contest. Hope everyone had a blast.
