Anchorage 2012 Chicago 2012 WOMEN'S INITIATIVE INSPIRING TOMORROW'S STEM PROFESSIONALS TODAY High school girls are taking high level math and science courses-with the exception of physics and engineering-at similar rates as their male peers; however, gender disparities begin to emerge at the undergraduate level, where men outnumber women in many STEM fields. Women receive only 18.2% of bachelor degrees awarded in computer science, 19.1% in physics, and 19.2% in engineering. Women's Initiative is working to change this, one presentation at a time.
