Athena Lens Before you begin, place the following in your path: For VAX users: /mit/0.3/lens/vaxbin For RT users: /mit/0.3/lens/rtbin The currently supported programs include: rsedit Allows you to look at a set of rules and choose which ones to edit, move, copy or delete. Requires a ruleset. (You should use this most of the time, rather than call the ruleeditor directly.) Example: rseditor incrules ruleeditor Allows you to create rules for managing your Email You must specify a ruleset and may optionally specify a rule number and a message type. Example: ruleeditor incrules -rn 1 -mt phone runrules Allows you to run any ruleset. You must specify a ruleset and a folder. Use the -h option for a list of other options. Example: runrules test.rul inbox -n alinc Allows you to run a specified ruleset prior on your new mail. You may specify a ruleset. Example: alinc incrules alcomp Allows you to create a message using a specified message type. Example: alcomp -mess phone lensdc Allows you to set which data collection parameters you would like. The default is all data collection on. Example: lensdc Type: option at the prompt and specify ra (rule activity), rl (rule life), msg (message) or all as either on or off. Please refer to the documentation for more information. The first time you run any Athena Lens program, a number of files and directories will be created for you. You may modify these if you like. The default files consist of a .lens.profile file in your home directory, a lens subdirectory, a message type registry, a ruleset subdirectory, and a data collection subdirectory. .lens.profile Placed in your home directory. Specifies locations of other lens directories and files and whether or not to save message states and properties. lens A subdirectory that contains other lens programs. lens/rulesets A subdirectory of lens that contains your rulesets. Rulesets may also be placed in other directories and specified with pathnames. lens/mtr.init A file containing the locations of all your message type registries. lens/mtr.user A file containing your personal message types. lens/data A subdirectory that contains data about your use of lens. The lens.data file specifies what and how often data is to be collected. The program for viewing the state of lens.data has not yet been written.
