Subject:Summer Mailing & List of Events and Such

Hi all..................FYI:


	Well, summer is finally here and with it comes our new officers and
a bunch of projects and plans!

	First, our new officers were elected at our last regular meeting of the
term. They are: Jason Satterfield as General Coordinator, Chris Smith as Social
Coordinator, Rebecca Kaplan as Financial Coordinator, Rob Gates as Office
Coordinator, Allie Bereny as Political Coordinator, and Heidi Burgiel as 
Publicity Coordinator. We've got lots of plans in the works, and we'll keep you
all posted. 
	Also at the last meeting we officially voted to change our name. We are
now Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Friends at MIT (GAMIT). We marched in the
Boston Pride parade (over 20 of us!) with our newly redesigned banner to show
our name change. 
	We've also got a number of things planned for the rest of the summer.
On June 30th, from 9PM until 1AM we'll be having a dance in La Sala de Puerto
Rico in the Student Center. Anyone interested in helping out should call and
leave a message for Rob Gates in the lounge (253-5440). On July 4th, we'll be
having our annual Fourth of July Party. Come along and watch the fireworks
with us. The party will be starting at 7:30 PM. Everyone is welcome, and
there is no cost. We merely ask that you bring along a bag of munchies or some
soda. On Friday, July 14 we'll be having our second movie night of the summer.
We'll have soda and popcorn available for during the movie. The movie will be 
in the lounge and we'll be starting at 7PM. The last movie drew about 30 
people, so be there early for a good seat. Our second summer dance will be held
on August 4th from 9PM until 1AM in the Lobdell Dining Hall. Help will be 
needed for that dance as well. Our final "special" event of the summer will be 
an Ice Cream Social on August 17th in the lounge. Delicious Toscanini's Ice 
Cream starting at 9PM. We will also be having an important R/O planning session
meeting on August 24 at 8PM. Everyone is strongly encouraged to attend and help
us plan our strategies for the fall.
	Throughout the summer we'll be having regular weekly Summer Breaks on
Thursday evenings starting at 9PM. We'll also be doing some work on the lounge
itself. Definite plans and dates are not yet settled, but you can always call 
the lounge for information on upcoming events. Part of our renovations is an
ongoing clean up and build up of our library. Anyone who has books they've 
taken out of the library should return them as soon as possible so we can get 
an accurate inventory of what we have. Also, anyone who has any books they'd 
like to donate is encouraged to do so. Any messages about the library should 
be for Niki Pantelias. We'll also be looking for recommendations and 
suggestions on what books we'd like to have in the library as well.
	Finally, our newly designed T-shirts will be available at the dance and
anytime after that. They are 100% cotton T-shirts and are white with black and
pink design. They will be $10 each, and they look, well, spiffy.
