Subject: a couple of mwm questions

There haven't really been any satisfying ones. A couple people
suggested ways to get rid of the [1] 9999 messages, but they don't
work. A couple people said there's no way to get rid of them. I
can't help but wonder about that, but I think it's true.

One suggested hack was to set the SHELL environment variable to
/bin/sh before starting mwm. That does solve the problem, but any
xterm windows that get started from mwm will then have their shells
set to /bin/sh. There are ways to get around that, but I haven't
played with it (decided it wasn't worth the effort).

As for the problem of all my windows getting shifted up and to the
left, I'm using the version of mwm in motifdev, and I think that one
isn't doing it (djf suggested that).
