Are you sure?  I get an error message telling me:

X Toolkit Warning: No type converter registered for 'String' to
                   'Window' conversion.

Can you give me a hint as to the converter that is being used, 
what file it is in, etc.?   I installed my own converter to 
do what I wanted, but I didn't see any likely looking code 
anywhere else...  I'm doing things in a slightly unusual manner,
but it you really think it should work I'll try to reproduce
the problem in a small test program.
