You can use the Compose Character command to create any of a wide variety of foreign characters (for example, the upside down question mark used in Spanish). To do this, you identify a single foreign character by specifying a two-character keyboard string. For example, the letter "n" with a tilde over it (common in Spanish) is specified to ez as the letter n and the keyboard tilde character, ~. There are two ways to supply the two-character strings to Compose Character to place foreign characters in an ez document: - If you type C-x x (i.e., type x while pressing down the Ctrl key, then type x without holding down any other key), you will be prompted for an initial character. Once you type a character, you will be shown a list of the characters available with the prefix character you typed. - If you type C-x v, you will be prompted for a character, and the text caret will appear in the message line. In this mode, you can get a listing of everything your entry so far can generate by typing a question mark (?). If you haven't entered anything yet when you type '?', you will be given a list of all the foreign characters that are available to you. In a similar fashion, to insert greek characters: Position the cursor where you want the character to be inserted, then type control-x v followed by a "?". Then, after a second or two, a list of all possible characters will appear. Search through that list until you find what you want. To enter the character, just type the two letters that correspond to the one you want.
