Prochart is a fairly old drawing program, which only runs on Suns at
present. It isn't really recommended, but if you *must* use it,
instructions on printing to Postscript are included below. After
you've done this, refer to the stock answer on including Postscript in
your document.

Start by entering prochart:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                Main Menu

    ========================

     dc Data & Chart Types
     th Titles & Headers
     cl Chart Layout

     rc Reset Chart
     li Library
     su Setup
     hp HELP

    ========================

     qu Quit

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From this Main Menu, select the 'Setup' entry. This will bring you to
following menu:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                Setup ProChart

If you do not know about device names, etc.
                         ask your System Administrator

     sd Screen Device [xterm___________________________________]
     sc Screen Connection [tty_____________________________________]

     hd Hardcopy Device [PS8S____________________________________]
     hc Hardcopy Connection [file.PS_________________________________]
     tr Transparency :On

     ed Editor [emacs_______________]
     se String Editing Style :UNIX

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit the entries in the 'Setup Prochart' menu so that they are the same as
above. Case IS significant in the PS8S entry. The 'Hardcopy Connection'
entry should be changed from 'file.PS' to a unique filename for each graph
that you are including in your document. Make sure that this file does
not exist yet. Press the space bar to activate the setup.

Your next change within Prochart is the set the display window to a size that
will correspond to the margins of your document. To do this, return to the
'Main Menu', and select 'Chart Layout':

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

				Chart Layout

pr * Primary Chart Type :Line
     ax Axes
     ma Margins
     dw Display Window
     bb Border & Background
     le Legend
     gs General Bar Settings

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the 'Chart Layout' Menu, select 'Display Window':

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                               Display Window

     le Left Edge (%) [0.00]
     bo Bottom Edge [0.00]
     rt Right Edge [83.0]
     tp Top Edge [80.0]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the 'Display Window' menu, change the entries as shown. These are
close approximations to achieve a figure that takes up ~2/3 of a printed
page in a report, and is horizontally centered on a page with the default
margins. Adjust accordingly if you are using different margins, or want a
larger graph on the page.

Create your graph normally, using '.' to preview it on the screen.
When you are finally ready to save the graph for inclusion in your
document, press the '+' key, then press return. This will save your
graph in the file specified in the 'Setup Prochart' menu--'file.PS' in
the example above. Note that this filename should not already exist,
as Prochart appends output files onto the end of each other, thus
wasting space in your account.

If you need to include more than one graph, return to the 'Setup Prochart'
menu and change the name of the 'Hardcopy Connection'. Create the graph,
then save it with '+'. Repeat this process for all graphs that you want
to include.
