In addition to kermit, Xmodem, Ymodem, and Zmodem protocols are
available, although they are unsupported. You can find more
information about them by typing:

	add sipb
	man sz
and
	add sipb
	man rz

The programs "sx" and "sz" are used to Send a file in the respective
protocols. 

The programs "rx" and "rz" are used to Receive a file in the respective
protocols.

Often, there may be problems using these programs--sometimes the
consultants can help you, for problems that have their root on Athena, and
sometimes they may be at a loss, for problems that arise from your PC, one
way or another.  If you find that you are having problems, try the
following things:

    o if you have "call waiting," disabling it before dialing in

    o returning to your pasta (CPT) prompt by trying Ctrl-^ x, then
      typing "term download".  (Press RETURN to resume your session.)

    o disabling your zephyr to prevent incoming messages from interfering
      with the data transmission, by typing:

	add consult
	punt zwgc

    o disabling write and talk requests by typing "mesg n" ("mesg y"
      to revert)

    o when the file is a compressed binary (.Z or .gz) and fails under
      Z-modem, uncompressing the file and sending it with "sz -Z" instead.

    o use the -e flag.  This escapes all control characters,  if there are not
      a large number of control characters in the file then this should not
      change the speed of your transaction.
 
That's basically it.  Remember to always start the file transfer on the
remote end (Athena) first, then go back to the PC and start the file
transfer there.
