You can read DOS floppies from any IBM RT or VS2000 workstation, but not the VSII workstations (such as in 4-035). If you have blank disks, you must first format them. This can be done either on your own IBM PC home computer, or on the IBM RT workstations. This is done in two steps: /etc/fdformat -h /dev/rfd0 doswrite -i The "-h" option in the "fdformat" command means "format in high-density (1.2 Megabyte capacity)" -- if you want to use the 360 Kbyte format instead (only on the RT), leave out the "-h" option. The VS2000 workstations can only read the 1.2 Meg floppies. Then, you can use the "DOS" programs to read and write files: To read in a file filename: dosread filename To read in all files on a floppy: dosread \* To write a file filename: doswrite filename To list all files on floppy: dosdir For more information on these programs, type 'man dosread'.
