The SGI's do not actually read your .startup.X file, so no commands from
that file will be executed.  

However, you can set up your "desktop" on the SGI, and it will save
those settings in a directory called ".desktop_indy", so that the next
time you login, the same applications that you had running before will
appear.

The system keeps track of the windows that are open and their location
on the screen.  Every time you log in, the system checks the list of
windows to determine which ones it should open automatically.  It can do
one of two things:

	o  Automatically open the windows that were on your
	   screen when you logged out.  This is the default
	   behavior.
	o  Ignore the windows that were open when you logged
	   out.  Always open a particular set of windows that
	   you have chosen.

To switch to the latter setup, you should go to the ToolChest menubar,
and choose "Desktop->Customize->Windows".  This will bring up the
"Window Settings" program, and you can change the "Save Windows & Desks"
choice to "Explicitly" (rather than the default "Continuously").
