In order to use the CD-ROM drive attached to the public Indy's, you will
need a CD-ROM caddy (gray plastic flip-open case which slides into the
CD-ROM drive). Some caddies have been distributed with the machines.

If you find that you will be using the drives often, you may want to
purchase your own caddy and bring it with you when you go to a
cluster. They are available as Apple CD Caddies at the MCC (w20-021, part
number 2705, price $8 as of 3/21/95)  and at most other computer stores.

To use a CD (CD-ROM or audio CD) simply put the CD in the caddy and slide
the caddy into the drive. The drive should grab the caddy and feed it the
rest of the way in. If the drive doesn't pull in the caddy, make sure that
the CD-ROM drive is turned on. (Note: if the drive is turned off, you can
turn it back on, but if the CD-ROM icon does not appear on the Indy
desktop, you will need to reboot the Indy before you can use the
drive. See the stock answer on REBOOTING for instructions.)

If the drive still does not work, please send mail to hotline@mit.edu with
the location of the faulty drive.

The Indy can read a variety of CD formats, including Macintosh, MS-DOS,
and audio CDs.
