Vickie Thomas ("Amistad" Casting Director) is in the process of contacting
African Studies Associations at American academic institutions in order to
cast a film, Steven Spielberg is directing, about the 1839 mutiny on the
slave ship "Amistad".
She would like to make African students aware of the project. Any student
interested should follow the following instructions:
This is a movie to be directed by Steven Spielberg for DREAMWORKS PICTURES

Start Date: February 1997
Producers looking for: 15-35 year old African males preferably native
Mende or Temne speakers from Sierra Leone for leading and
supporting roles. Other West Africans who are familiar with other West
African languages are acceptable. Dancing and singing are a plus.
Also looking for 7-12 year old girls with the same qualifications.
