For some years now, Dudley Andrew, Professor of Film Studies within the
Department of Communication Studies and a well-known scholar of French
cinema, has been amassing a wonderful collection of African movies at The
University of Iowa as part of our African Studies Program. In particular,
Dudley has been attending FESPACO in Ouaga on a regular basis-ever since his
own daughter was in the Peace Corps thereabouts. He's been on leave this
past semester, but you could check on the availability of these and other
African films by phoning the UI Film and Video Checkout at 319/335-0587.
