Giulio Romano (born 1499 in Rome - died 1546 in Mantua)

After Raphael's death Giulio took over his painting workshop. He is,
thus, the heir to Raphael's decorative style which he modifies
according to his own personal sensibility and the court environment
in Mantua where he did the greatest part of his work.

Characteristic of his style is a contrast between classical forms, which
he knows very well, and anticlassical ones which he invents.
