Okay, so Hadoram Madai is hanging out in the Capital City Art Gallery when
he spots this painting, obviously somehow connected to the Darkhold -- it
just radiates it in a serious way.  He tries to buy it, but it's really
famous and its painter (**who?  and does it matter?) had given it to Abraam
on the condition that it never be sold.  So Madai, who knew Tuvan was
involved in the Thieve's Guild, contacted Tuvan and made him an offer.
Knowing the boy was a mage, Madai offered in exchange for Tuvan's stealing
and delivering said painting a magical grimoire he had somehow come across,
since Madai had no use for it.

  Thing is, the grimoire belonged to an old mage name of Kiel, whom Tuvan
had always claimed was his mentor in times gone by.  Kiel has been dead for
many years, so nobody could really check on this.  Of course, it isn't true,
since Tuvan is a Madwand and never had a mentor, and the references in
Kiel's grimoire make that very clear.  Tuvan saw the grimoire and freaked,
and agreed to the deal.  (Madai has no idea why the grimoire is so
important, but realizes Tuvan's reaction means something.

  In any case, Tuvan used the money he was getting from the SoJustice to
hire a couple of partners, random thieves he had worked with before.  Except
there was this Eastern chick who had apprenticed to the Wizard's Conclave,
who had tracked down one of the random thieves as a thief.  Yes, this is
Holly, who was under instructions from Victor to keep a low profile but find
out whatever she could about the Thieve's Guild's operations.  So she
seduced him, and found out about the operation.  (***or she was lying in his
bedroom when Tuvan called, if we want to get rid of seduction--dp)  She
followed the three of them and managed to get the two random thieves in jail
and the painting in question in her own hands.  (Aram was the arresting
officer, and Tuvan [a fellow madwand] just barely managed to fasttalk his
way out of being arrested).

  So Madai wants it, Tuvan wants it to exchange for the grimoire, and Holly
has it but doesn't know what it's for, so she may as well sell it to the
highest bidder -- except that now there's this hole in it.  Huh?  (the
darkhold page being secreted on the inside of the container.

  Oh, by the way, Kiel's grimoire may or may not have other neat things in
it.
