DESCRIPTIONS OF (DIS)ADVANTAGES Artistic Aptitude: Natural "knack" for visual communication through painting, drawing, dance, illusion-spells, etc. Can convey reasonably subtle meanings even through an unfamiliar medium, although training is required to be truly proficient. Any artistic skills can be learned at half normal price. Musical Aptitude: See Artistic Aptitude. Voice: Soothing, well-modulated voice, exceptional range, natural potential to be a public speaker, singer, etc. Adds 2 to PRESENCE rolls when appropriate. In any situation where natural voice (as opposed to training) is important, adjust any roll by 1 factor positively. Bicamerality: The two hemispheres of the character's brain are capable of functioning independantly in parallel, allowing him to perform two completely independant actions simultaneously with the two halves of his body or mind, at FULL concentration. Thus, a character could wield a weapon and prepare a spell at the same time, for example, or wield two weapons at once (this is not the same as florentine, see Combat Skills), without penalty. This talent does make its recipient especially succeptible to certain forms of insanity, particularly schizophrenic disorders. Physical restrictions still apply; a right-handed character cannot write well with his left hand, nor could a character read two things at once, since his eyes could only focus on one. Exceptional Balance: +6 on AGIL for any rolls involving keeping one's footing. Peripheral Vision: Character can see perfectly well on both flanks if not wearing a helmet, even while staring straight ahead. This adds 4 to PERC rolls for determination of surprise; character is at no penalties attacking or defending to the side.
