	He's not really a mage -- he's been faking it for a long time.
He knows what Rehoboth Det had theorized about the Creation Gate, but
couldn't continue with the research himself.  Got into wizard's
Conclave by claiming to be apprentice to David (who just died).
Triggered the shrinking device for Moses.  Broke into Art Gallery to
steal "The Wizard" for Hadoram Madai in exchange for David's grimoire
(afraid someone might discover David had no apprentice).  Stole "The
Sigil" (by Hazarnaveth Gomer) because it was a picture of Det.
