General notes on Hero tech-level.

			    Transportation 
INTERSTELLAR TRAVEL:
 Requires field generators that warp space, utilizing the
Parker-Lobochevski field.  P-L fields cannot be activated within a
gravity well, and require a huge critical mass (about ???) to be
functional.  Travel time while the field is activated is negligable;
the net travel time consists of the time required to leave and
re-enter gravity wells via conventional drive and the time required to
activate and deactivate the P-L fields.

INTERPLANETARY TRAVEL: 
 Hydrogen-fusion drive, uses a magnetic web to collect and compress
interplanetary hydrogen and other particulate debris, which is then
fused into heavier elements.  Web shuttles provide constant
acceleration of .2 km/s/s while in a solar system, a nebula, or other
celestial body where "space gas" is abundant, and can achieve a
maximum speed of 6000 kmps (.2 c) after roughly 10 hours of constant
use.  Web shuttles have a relatively small maximum payload (about
???/100), and are incapable of functioning within or near atmospheres.

PLANETARY TRAVEL: 
 Dozens of different transportation systems exist on different planets
in the Galaxy, adapting to local climate, terrain, resources, and
requirements.  The six Hubworlds utilize some variant on tube-trains
and automatic hovercraft to transport people and cargo across the
planetary surface.  

 For getting cargo and personel between surface and orbit, anti-grav
jumpships are used.  While antigrav generators are impractical for
extended use (secondary peturbations in the local gravitational field
eventually deform bone growth and lead to balance problems in living
beings, and cause electrical equipment to become unreliable), when
combined with simple fusion drives they allow for rapid off-planet
travel. 

TRADE TRANSPORT:
 Corporation traders use webshuttles, equipped with anti-grav
generators, to ship raw materials and worked goods from planetary
surface to warestations, or collection stations.  When a sufficient
quantity is collected, a larger ship equipped with P-L drive picks up
cargo and goes on.  P-L ships continue around the Galaxy, picking up
and dropping off trade goods at collection stations.
