Importing a comma-delimited text file for Address Books

  1. From the File menu, select Import Data.

  2. Select Comma-delimited text file for Address Books from the Type list, select the appropriate file from the File Selection dialog box, and click OK.

  3. In the Categories of Imported Entries section of the Address Book dialog box, select either Use existing or Use selected.

If you select Use existing, you will import the Address Book information using the categories that are already associated with it. Select Use selected if you want to assign the imported information a specific category. Click Other to open the Contact Categories Manager if you want to create or edit categories.

  4. Information about each contact appears on the left side of the Mapping section. Choose how to map contact information to your contact fields. For example, if the last name of a person appears on the left, you could map that information to any field in your Address Book. The Mapping fields you choose for the first contact (Record 1 of X) are applied to all entries and are also kept as defaults for subsequent ones. Keep the defaults, or configure mapping on a file-by-file basis. Use the arrow buttons to move through the Address Book entries. Click Clear to remove any mapping that you may already have set. Click Map in order to select the field to which you would like to map the information.
