Selecting address lists

You can select which address books you want to use when adding invitees to Agenda entries and when searching for people. The Oracle Calendar directory is always used.

The Global Address List (also referred to as the GAL) contains all calendar users, resources, and event calendars on the calendar server. It may also include non-calendar users. By default, the GAL is downloaded every seven days. However, this is a server-side parameter that can be modified by an administrator.

Your personal address book contains all your contacts, and is also available for offline use. By default, it is available when you launch the Oracle Calendar desktop client. If you prefer not to use your personal address book, deselect Personal Address Book.

  1. From the Tools menu, select Options, then select Addresses.

  2. Select the Address Lists tab.

  3. If you want to use the Global Address List and your personal address book, select the appropriate options.

  4. If you want your personal address book to be searched when adding invitees to Agenda entries and when locating people, select Enable searching for invitees.

NOTE: Enable searching for invitees is only available if you selected Personal Address Book. If you don't select Enable searching for invitees, you will still be able to open your personal address book, but it will not be searched when locating people or adding attendees.

  5. Restart the you Oracle Calendar desktop client for the changes to take effect.
