OWL (Online With Libraries) offers online reference assistance to
members of the MIT community for questions relating to coursework,
research or work being done at MIT.  Questions may be asked at any hour, day or
night. If a member of the reference staff is logged in to OWL when you
ask your question, the answering process is interactive via Athena's
"zephyr" message service. If no librarian is logged in, you can 
exit OWL and return to other work or log out. You will receive an
answer via e-mail, usually within 24 hours.

To start, type add library;owl at the Athena prompt.  To ask a
question, type ask and then choose  a topic from a list corresponding to the 
Libraries' collection areas. If your question does not fit into one
of the categories, choose the one that seems closest or pick
the "general" topic. 

For answers to frequently-asked questions, type answers.
For a list of commands, type help.
To exit type quit.
