FILM AND VIDEO Several MIT Libraries collect films and video formats. For example, Rotch Visual Collections has a large collection of films, videotapes, and videodiscs on art history, planning, architecture, archaeology and anthropology; Barker Library has videotapes on engineering subjects; Humanities has a small collection of plays on videotape; the Music Library has videotapes of operas; and Dewey Library has videotapes related to management and political science. All these libraries have VCRs for viewing the tapes. Most of these videotapes are cataloged on Barton. The Libraries do not collect feature films. The Literature Section of the Humanities Department does maintain such a collection, primarily to provide a resource for classroom instruction, but the films are available to all members of the MIT community at the Film Office, 14N-414, 253-3599,during the academic year, Monday-Thursday 10 AM-5 PM, Friday 12-5 PM. These films are not part of the Libraries' collection, and are not cataloged on Barton.
