MIT THESES IN THE LIBRARIES

The MIT LIbraries receive two copies of every Masters and PhD Thesis
within a month of the February, June, and September thesis submission
degree date.  One copy is deposited in the Institute Archives and does
not circulate.  The second copy is shelved in the library whose
collection supports the course number of the thesis.  This copy, along
with a microfiche copy, is available for circulation after it has been
processed.  If a thesis is needed before it has been processed, it may
be consulted in the Institute Archives Reading room, 14N-118.

Selected B.S. theses are sent by the Departments to be added to the
collection.  Generally, one copy is sent to the Archives.

Many of the citations for MIT theses are online in Barton and earlier
theses are found using the Dewey Decimal Microfiche Catalog, available
at all libraries.  The thesis can be found using an author search.  If
this does not produce a citation, contact the Archives at 253-5136 and
they will check the MIT Degree books to confirm your citation and tell
you where you may find a copy of the thesis.  To find theses
supervised by a specific faculty member, access Barton and select
w=[name of supervisor] and thesis.
