Instructions for building vim-5.8 into the sipb locker Brad Thompson July 15, 2001 Make a symlink farm to /mit/sipb/src/vim-5.8, cd into that directory, run configure.sipblocker, and run gmake. Be very careful installing...vim installs a lot of symlinks you don't want like "ex". I use a staging directory called /mit/sipb that is not the sipb locker for this, and hand install the files. You only need to install the vim binary and gvim symlink after the first platfrom---they are the only platform dependent files. There are a number of utility programs that come with vim. xxd is installed, but almost never changes, so I don't bother with it. Vim no longer comes with etags and ctags binaries, so that's one less thing to worry about not installing.
