This is a beta version of vat (the LBL audio tool) for the DEC 3max
(5000 series) workstation.  Please let us know of any problems,
questions, suggestions, etc., via mail to vat@ee.lbl.gov.

Vat requires the DEC CRL AudioFile audio server (available via
anonymous ftp from crl.dec.com in pub/DEC/AF).  While vat will
work using point-to-point IP unicast, to get much value out of it
you really should put IP multicast into your kernel (multicast for
Ultrix is available for anonymous ftp from gregorio.stanford.edu
in directory vmtp-ip).  Vat should work with any audio device
suported by AudioFile.

In addition to vat, you might want to pick up Ron Frederick's
nv video conferencing tool (available from parcftp.xerox.com in
pub/net-research) and the LBL `session directory' tool (available
from ftp.ee.lbl.gov:dec-sd.tar.Z).
