Time

Time is a Common Object that provides a way for you to specify when a rule applies. After you define the time object, add it to the packet filter rules to create time-based rules.

Use the fields and controls in the dialog to enter the configuration information for the Time object.

• Name Specifies a name for the time object.
• Description (Optional) Adds a descriptive note about the time object.
• Screen Specifies which Screen recognizes the time object.

You can make a rule apply based on the the time of day and day of week. To specify the time period for the time object:

1. Select the Add Row button.
2. Use the drop down menus in the table to set the day and time for the time object. To set the day and time:
1. Select the day for which you want the Time object to apply. Note: If you want the Time object to cover more than one day, add a row for each day and specify each day.
2. Choose a start time for each day in the table. Start Time contains two menus--use the first one to specify the hour; use the second one to specify the minute. Note: The Time object is based on a 24-hour clock. The time 00:00 is midnight on the day specified; the time 24:00 is midnight 24 hours later.
3. Choose an end time for each day in the table. Specify End Time the same way you specify the start time.
