PowerNeWS QUICK USER GUIDE 

NOTE:

WHEN CALLING NEWTONMAIL, SOME NEWTONS DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH MEMORY TO 
DOWNLOAD THE COMPLETE POWERNEWS STORIES.  THIS COULD CAUSE YOUR SYSTEM TO RESET.

TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM, WHEN CALLING NEWTONMAIL, USE THE "GET STORIES" OPTION
IN POWERNEWS. THIS SPECIAL OPTION WILL CLEAR OUT ENOUGH FREE MEMORY  BEFORE CALLING NEWTOMAIL. ALSO, IF YOU USE THE BUILT-IN ALARM CLOCK TO AUTOMATICALLY DOWNLOAD POWERNEWS STORIES, THIS OPTION WILL TOO CLEAR OUT MEMORY.

INFORMATION BUTTON
	Shows current Date, Time and Battery Level.

PREVIOUS BUTTON
	Tap to move to previous story

ALARM BUTTON
	Tap to open Alarm Set  Dialog Box.

STORY LIST BUTTON
	Tap to view listing of stories. Use the Scroll Up/Down buttons to reveal
	more stories.

CHECK BUTTON
	Tap to show:
		PowerNeWS Settings
    Delete All Stories
		Subscription Information
		About PowerNeWS

NEXT STORY BUTTON
	Tap to advance to next story.

OPERATIONS

Setting the PowerNeWS Alarm.

	PowerNeWS is capable of waking a sleeping Newton and calling NewtonMail to retrieve any mail in your mailbox.   We recommend setting your alarm  for early morning.  There is less network traffic and the chances of connecting are greatly enhanced.

Set the time on the clock face to the appointed time. (see you Newton manual for directions on setting time)

You can choose to ÒAutomatically download stories everydayÓ, and/or have PowerNeWS Òdelete any existing stories before downloadingÓ new ones.  You must make your selections before setting the Alarm.

Tap the Alarm Set button to set the alarm.

Tap the Remove button to clear the PowerNeWS alarm currently set.

NOTE:

When your Newton wakes up, it will make one attempt to call NewtonMail.  If the line is busy, or some other problem occurs, you will have to manually re-call NewtonMail.


Using the PowerNeWS Auto-Scroll feature

	PowerNeWS can scroll  text automatically, and at varying speeds.  To start scrolling simply tap the  screen, scrolling will then begin.  Tap the screen again to stop scrolling.

To change scroll speeds, open the ÒPowerNeWS SettingsÓ option in the ÒCheckÓ button. You can select on of the preset modes or customize your own.

Subscribing to PowerNeWS

	By selecting ÒSubscription InformationÓ  from the ÒCheckÓ  button, you can send a NewtonMail message with the categories you wish to receive.  The name, company, address, ect., information is not changeable from within PowerNeWS.  This information is read from the information placed in the Newton Prefs.

Check the categories you wish to receive , and Tap the Send Subscription button. Connect your Newton to a modem and send the newly generated NewtonMail.

Printing from PowerNeWS

 To print from PowerNeWS, simply tap the "Put Away" option under the "Check" button.
This will place the article in the NotePad.  From there, you can print,fax,beam or mail.
