On Monday, January 29, 2001 at 2:00pm a 2400 volt underground cable faulted
between the steps of 77 Mass Ave and Bexley Hall, we suspect, due to
construction in the street by the City's Mass Ave Storm Drain contractor.
Buildings 17, 31, 35, 41, W4, W5, W13 and W15 lost power. By operating
several sectionalizing switches in the affected electrical loop, Facilities
staff isolated the faulted section of cable. Power was restored in buildings
on the east side of Mass Ave in 45 minutes and the rest an hour later.

We will be working with the City to confirm the cause of the damage and get
it repaired over the next few days.
