Dear Pre-Release Prospective Participant,

Thanks for your interest in the OmniSky Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC program.
We've had an overwhelming response.  There are a limited number of slots for
this program and we will do our best to accommodate as many of you as we
can.  The pre-release is scheduled to launch in mid January 2001 and run for
up to three months, during which participants will be contacted periodically
for feedback.

During the next couple of weeks, you will receive a brief qualification
survey. Those iPAQ owners who qualify will be offered a special pre-release
bundle consisting of a wireless network card, an iPAQ PC Card Expansion
Pack, and a full year of unlimited use of the OmniSky service.  This
complete package will be available to participants at a significant discount
off the retail prices.  In addition, participants will be entitled to a free
upgrade to the commercial service at the conclusion of program.

We look forward to a great program, and appreciate your interest in
providing critical feedback to us as we learn how Pocket PC users use this
new platform.
