===========================================
SECTION 8.  TECHNICAL SUPPORT
===========================================
TECHNICAL SUPPORT Q&A
Q. Can Etherpeek decode VOIP packets, pecifically H.225.0 and
    H.245 packets?

A. Yes, we decode H.225, but we currently do not decode H.245.

    The following information (and more) about the protocols that
    EtherPeek decodes is on our website at:
    http://www.wildpackets.com/support/knowledge_base/etherpeek_win#1

     ITU (International Telecommunications Union):
     H.225 - Call signaling and media stream packetization (RAS)
     H.261 - Video Codec
     H.323 - Packet-based multimedia communications (VoIP)
     H.850 - Usage of cause and location
     Q.931 - ISDN user-network interface layer 3 for Basic Call Control

Q. Etherpeek used to work fine, but now it hangs and my laptop
    freezes and has to be powered down. This happens after an intermittent
    amount of time running EtherPeek, but always happens (from 5min to 5 hours).
    When I first try to run EtherPeek now, it takes a very long time to launch.
    A message appears, but it goes by too fast to read. There is a task that
    is running called PEEK. If that task is killed, you have to start EtherPeek
    again to get it to run. Is there a fix for this problem?

A. I believe we have a fix. If the fix below works, we would like you to
    ftp us the offending files. This is a known issue with EtherPeek and we
    need your files to trace the bug. Please help us track down the root of
    the problem.

    FIX #1
    The problem you're experiencing may be due to a large 'peek.log' or
    'names.nam' file. Please try the following:
	Exit EtherPeek if it's running.
	Search for the file 'peek.log' on your hard drive.
	Rename the peek.log -> peek.gmn
	Launch EtherPeek. It should now launch and run properly.
   If this resolved your problem, your problem was due to a large log file. You
   can prevent your log file from becoming too large in the future by going to
   Tools/Plug-ins and turning off WebURL Notify by clearing the check mark from
   the Notify box.

   FIX #2
   If that did not resolve the problem, try renaming the 'names.nam' file.
	Exit EtherPeek if it's running.
	Search for the file 'names.nam' on your hard drive.
	Rename the names.nam -> names.gmn
	Launch EtherPeek. It should now launch and run properly.
   If this resolved your problem, the problem was due to a large name table
   file. You can prevent the name table from becoming too large in the future
   by going to Tools/Name Resolver Options and clearing the check mark from the
   Enable Passive Resolution box.
