Clearing My Cache 101

What Cache Means: Your computer stores information in its cache so that it can quickly recall web sites. When you visit a site, your computer will go to its cache first to recall the page. The result is that you may be viewing an older version of a site from your cache instead of one that has been updated.

What Clearing Your Cache Does: Periodically clearing your cache will let you see the most recent documents on the site. Downloading may also be quicker because of all the memory you have cleared.

How to Do It:
If you use Internet Explorer:
1) On your Internet Explorer tool bar, click on the "Tools" Tab.
2) Click on the "Internet Options" tab.
3) From the General section of Internet Options, click on the "Delete Files" tab under Temporary Internet Files.
4) Make sure you check the "Delete all Offline" pop-up box.
5) Click on the "Clear History" tab under History.
6) Hit "OK" at the Bottom of the pop-up Window.
Close your browser down completely and restart a new session of Internet Explorer.

If you use Netscape:
1) On your Netscape tool bar, click on the "Edit" tab.
2) Click "Next" on the Preferences option. Your Netscape Navigator window will open.
3) Click on the "History" button.
4) In the left window pane you will see an "Advanced" section. Expand the "Advanced" section.
