To whom it may concern: This is a reply to a posting made by C. D. Tavares in the rec.models.rockets netnews group. The posting discussed the offering of an N5000 rocket motor to an educational institution, with the goal of having it flown with an instrumentation package. I'm a member of a group at MIT, consisting of several students and staff members, that is working on restarting the MIT Rocket Society with a slant toward high power activities. We are setting ourselves the goal of making an attempt at the altitude record for the sport, a project for which the engine being offered would be ideal as part of a multistage rocket. In order to properly record the altitude, the rocket will be instrumented with at least an altimeter and accelerometer, so flight profile information will be available. Please let me know if you require any further information from us. Thank you. -Chris Murphy MIT Room E40-311 chris@mit.edu 253-4105
