<h1>W92 8-Ball Tournament Organization and Rules</h1>
The tournament will consist of 2 phases.  For the first phase, players
will be randomly grouped into 4 groups of 4, and each group will play
round-robin, each player playing all the other members of their
group.  Each match between 2 players will be best-of-three games.  The
results of this round-robin phase will be used to rank players for the
elimination phase of the tournament.  
<p>
Ranking will be based on how players place in each group.  In order to
break any ties, point scores will be kept for the round-robin games as
follows:  1 point for each ball sunk, and 3 for (legally) sinking the
8-ball. 
<b>NOTE:  Meeroh and Jonathan have verified that the winner ALWAYS gets
10 points.</b>  There will be a grid for scoring on the white board by the pool table.
<p>
The second phase of the tournament will be single-elimination play.
Again each match will be best of 3 games.  No point scoring is
necessary.
<p>
Play will be by BCA rules, a copy of which should be around the pool
table.  Players will lag for break at the start of a match, and
alternate break after that.

I'll want to hear from people on how this scheme works, as I've never
